Mission Statement

Our mission is to promote discussion and collaborative research to better understand the mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to sleep, breathing and brain development, including unexplained sudden unexpected death in infancy and childhood, apnea of prematurity and of infancy and sleep apnea.

Our goals are to participate in education, professional collaboration, clinical research, referral networking, career development of young professionals, and sudden unexpected infant death (SUID)/sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) awareness.  By our participation in AASPP, we hope to contribute ultimately to the reduction in the incidence of unexplained SUIDs and to help discover an expanded understanding of apnea of prematurity and associated intermittent hypoxia which may lead to changes in clinical and public health practices.
